A rider and horse in Payne's grey, thinned down until it reads almost blue. The figure is tall and narrow, set on a long vertical board with plenty of open white around it, so the rider feels quiet and a little far off.
The paint is washy in places and firmer in others: the hat and shoulders hold their shape while the horse dissolves toward the bottom of the board. It's painted on 8-ply archival cotton mat board, which is thick, rigid and made to last.
Signed original. 12x24 in, Payne's grey acrylic on archival 8-ply cotton mat board.
