“Gold Mare”

A mare drawn in gold on black. The paint is interference acrylic, so it doesn't sit flat — the gold catches and shifts as the light in the room moves, brighter from one side, quieter from another.

The horse is made of only a handful of strokes, with the black paper doing the rest of the work. Up close you can see each pass of the brush; from across the room it settles into one calm figure.

Signed original. 9x12 in, gold interference acrylic on heavyweight black paper.
