Crossed Out

A figure in black, brushed in loose and dark, then struck through with a bold red X. I painted this in Nashville and thought it was a throwaway. I even crossed it out. But I hung it on the wall and kept looking at it, and eventually I knew I wanted to keep it.

The red cross is part of the painting, a second gesture laid over the first.

Condition: Sold as is. After years of traveling with me, this piece has some minor blemishes and bends in the paper. I'd recommend framing it so those marks show rather than hiding them. They're part of the character of a well-loved, well-traveled piece.
